A UPDF officer Friday morning reportedly shot and killed one parent at the gate of Kawanda Secondary School following a stiff misunderstanding.
According to eye witnesses, the officer identified as Sgt Abdul Ssali driving a Land Cruiser H4DF 1939 shot and killed a one Waliggo who was reportedly on a motorcycle to pick his child.
Another witness said the military parent was driving badly and raised too much dust for parents and students who were also finding their way into the school to pick their children following the closure of the third term.
“Upon reaching the gate the other parents cautioned the military guy and he pulled out his gun from the car and shot dead one of the parents,” a one Moses said.

According to Luke Owoyesigire the Public Relations Officer Kampala Metropolitan area, the victim has been identified as Waligo Ronald, 38 a resident of Kirinya Bigo Kawanda in wakiso. He was allegedly shot by a suspected UPDF driver identified as Ssali Abdul.
Owoyesigire said the duo got a misunderstanding when Ssali who was driving a updf vehicle while leaving the school met a number of motorcycles and cars at the gate.
He said the preliminary investigations into the matter indicated that because the road was narrow, this prompted him (Ssali) to squeeze on the side where the deceased had parked.
