The Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has said since the latest outbreak of the Ebola virus, 30 people have so far succumbed to it with many others still receiving treatment.

“35 days since the declaration of the outbreak. 109 have been confirmed with Ebola, of whom 30 succumbed, 34 treated and 45 are under treatment,” Aceng made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing the media on the current virus situation in the country.

As a result, she called on the general public to remain cautious saying it is the only way the country can resist rapid infections like it was on the Covid19.

This comes at a time when nine cases were confirmed in Greater Kampala region bringing the total number of cases to 14 in the city centre in the last 48 hours.

According to Dr. Aceng, the nine cases are contacts of the fatal case who came from Kassanda district and passed on in Mulago Hospital.

“Seven family members are from Masanafu and 1 health worker who managed him in a private clinic together with his wife from Seguku,” Aceng said urging individuals who experience any symptoms to desist from going into hiding.

“Fellow Ugandans, let’s be vigilant. Report yourself if you have had contact or know of a person who has had contact. Lets cooperate to end Ebola,” she urged.
