PLE: Fear as UNEB scout presents Ebola symptoms

Ugandans are living in shock after one individual believed to have been invigilating Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) was rushed to hospital after he presented symptoms related to the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

The invigilator who had been deployed at Kings Way Primary school in Igayaza town council in Kakumiro district to supervise PLE reportedly presented Ebola-like symptoms.

According to close witnesses, shortly after he arrived to invigilate exams on Tuesday morning, the suspect complained of severe headache, general body pain, and fever and started bleeding through the mouth.

Health officials attached to Kakumiro District Disease Surveillance team were alerted in time and rushed him to Igayaza Health Centre III for treatment.

According to Edward Wamani the Kakumiro District Disease Surveillance Officer, the health response team have since evacuated the suspect to Mubende hospital were he is currently seeking medication.

Wamani also said blood samples were picked from the suspect however, no feedback has yet been given whether they returned positive or negative.

“We have already engaged the in-charge of Igayaza health center III to immediately disinfect the school,” Wamani said.
