MTN CEO Sylvia Mulinge to Deliver Keynote Address at MAK’s 75th Graduation

Sylvia Mulinge, the first female CEO of MTN Uganda, has been announced as one of the keynote speakers for Makerere University’s 75th graduation ceremony. The ceremony will be held at Makerere University’s main campus in Kampala from January 13th to 17th.

Ms. Mulinge, who assumed her role at MTN Uganda in 2022, has played a significant role in driving the company’s growth and innovation in the telecommunications sector.

Before joining MTN Uganda, she held various leadership roles at Safaricom PLC, where she was instrumental in launching successful products and initiatives.

Her selection as keynote speaker reflects Makerere University’s commitment to honoring leaders who have made meaningful contributions to their fields.

The 75th graduation ceremony, scheduled for next week, is a five-day event that will bring together thousands of students to celebrate the completion of their academic journeys.

The week will feature a streamlined program, with each day dedicated to specific colleges and schools. This year’s ceremony will place a stronger emphasis on Makerere University Business School (MUBS), which will once again be allocated two days to accommodate its growing student population.

Graduation Schedule

The event will kick off on Monday, January 13th, with graduands from the following:

College of Education and External Studies (CEES)

College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS)

College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources, and Bio-Security (CoVAB)

School of Law (SoL)

On Tuesday, January 14th, the focus will shift to:

College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS)

College of Health Sciences (CHS)

College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS)

The midweek celebration on Wednesday, January 15th, will recognize graduands from:

College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES)

College of Engineering, Design, Art, and Technology (CEDAT)

College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS)

Thursday, January 16th, will be dedicated exclusively to MUBS, featuring graduands from its:

Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research

Faculty of Business Administration

Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages

Faculty of Marketing and International Business

The grand finale on Friday, January 17th, will also focus on MUBS, honoring students from its:

Faculty of Computing and Informatics

Faculty of Management

Faculty of Commerce

Faculty of Procurement and Logistics Management
