MoH launches vaccination campaign in Acholi sub-region

The Ministry of Health Thursday launched the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Acholi sub-region.

According to Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng the health minister, this is aimed at ensuring more and more individuals get vaccinated ahead of full country reopening in January 2022.

“I was glad to join the district leadership of Omoro District with my teams to interact and supervise the COVID-19 vaccination exercise launched in Acholi sub- region today. Please get vaccinated against COVID-19 and protect yourself and your family.”

“This is aimed to increase the uptake of vaccination among the population aged 18 years and above. I urge all those who are not vaccinated to get vaccinated today,” Aceng said.

She added that part of the strategy to up these numbers, the ministry is reaching out to communities physically more so those in distant to districts to among others sensitize them about the values of vaccination.

Meanwhile, this comes at a time when the country on Thursday reported 32 new cases from COVID-19 tests done on 23 November 2021.

As of today, the cumulative confirmed cases in Uganda are 127,299. Of these, 97,397 have since recovered from the virus while a total of 3,250 have succumbed to it.
