Makerere University, Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has commended learners, lectures and other staff for endorsing elearning strategies following the institution’s closure due to the Covid19 pandemic.
Since the coronavirus came to face in Uganda in 2020, schools and institutions of learning countrywide have had to remain closed and non operational for most months.
With this in mind, many learning centres more so those in position to do so, have since switched to online studies with students also assessed using the same methods with Makerere being one of those.
Speaking in a video shared on his social media platforms, Nawangwe raised that it was not easy to get lecturers and learners to conform to the strategy because for many it was their first time.
“Gallant Makerereans I want to thank all the students and staff for the exemplary manner they exhibited following challenges brought by the Covid19 pandemic,” Nawangwe thanked.
Due to the consulted efforts of our staff and students we continued with teaching and learning and even examined the students using the alternative assessment methods and we were doing this for the first time but we did it very well,” he added.
