RE: CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
The Makerere University Council, Senate, Management, staff, students, Alumni and the entire community with great sadness and shock received the news of the death of our gallant alumnus and Speaker of Parliament, the Right Honourable Jacob Oulanyah in Seattle, Washington USA.
Please accept our utmost condolences.
Rt. Hon. Oulanyah’s rise from humble beginnings in the then Gulu District and passage through the gates of Makerere, not once but twice, and then onto the third highest seat in the land is nothing short of inspirational.
This double graduate of Agricultural Economics in 1991 and the Bachelor of Laws in 1994 never shied from leadership, serving as Guild Speaker, Law President and several other roles.
He was one of our most outstanding alumni who represented his alma mater with great distinction.
We extend sincere condolences to the Mzee Nathan L’Okori, the children and the rest of the family upon the loss of a loving son, father, brother and outstanding citizen.
Rt. Hon. Oulanyah has served the nation with all his might. He will be remembered for his selfless service to making the world a better place. We thank God for the gift of his life, wisdom, leadership and all his accomplishments.
Rt. Hon. Oulanyah has been a God-fearing person. May the good Lord he served receive his soul in paradise.
Rest in perfect peace!
Yours Sincerely
Professor Barnabas Nawangwe
VICE CHANCELLOR
