Pupils of Kitino Tima Primary School in Omel sub county, Gulu district have locked their head teacher’s office and also ordered her to depart the school over allegations of failing to release their exams.

According to the Independent Magazine, Mary Filder Lakaraber, the school headteacher was reportedly pulled out of her office on Tuesday afternoon by more than 80 pupils in primary six and seven after a disagreement.

Tonny Okot, the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairperson said the incident culminated from the fact that pupils were seeking to know why their beginning of term exams had been delayed despite paying yet the teachers could not provide answers.

Okot said the pupils also were seeking to know why there was a hike in their fees from 3,000 shillings to 5,000 shillings per term under the tenure of Lakaraber who had only assumed office in the second term.

According to Okot, despite the pupils paying only 3,000 Shillings previously, they were routinely doing exams and tests unlike under the stewardship of the new head teacher.

He however, revealed the head teacher has since run into hiding and with his office also locked. The Gulu District Inspector of Schools, Jackeline Akello who confirmed receiving reports on the incident said she was yet to establish fully what happened at the said school.

On Wednesday however, parents and teachers convened a meeting with the pupils at the school to seek solutions on the matter.
