The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Diana Atwine has challenged the general public to rise up in the fight against corruption saying that everyone is accountable.
“We all still must fight corruption including journalists, they always talk about it, but who have they reported? Who have they exposed?” Dr. Atwine made the remarks while statements while presenting at the NRM Manifesto week on Tuesday at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
She said following the recent exhibition on the health sector, there were several complaints linkened to corruption that were circulated on various social media platforms.
Atwine however, reiterated that the corruption fight in the health sector is broad and should not only be left to those within.
She challenged the public and the media that they also have a big role to play in creating awareness in a bid to end this vice.
“With evidence, we don’t condone and in fact, we punish corruption heavily. However, you can’t tell us you are concerned about corruption and do nothing about it,” Dr Atwine reiterated.
“It’s only God who is everywhere and can see everything. If in Mityana someone asks for money and you go ahead and give it to them, and you go ahead and expose this person you are part of the corrupt as per the law,” she added.
