The Ministry of Health has received clearance to deploy medical interns to the 58 internship centres across the country.
In a statement dated July 27, Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services said government will deploy up to 1,901 medical interns within the available budget at a net monthly allowance of UGX 1,000,000 per intern to facilitate accommodation and feeding.
According to Mwebesa, all interns will be expected to report to their various training centers by 3rd August 2023.
“The respective hospital directors will issue the interns with deployment letters and organise for their induction,” Mwebesa added.
He however, raised the delayed deployment was occasioned by factors beyond the control of health ministry.
