Covid19: Tension as MoH confirms 743 new cases

The Ministry of Health Monday confirmed 743 new cases from COVID-19 tests done on 25 December 2021 pushing the cumulative confirmed cases in the country to 135,091.

The breakdown of the new cases is: 728 Alerts And Contacts; Kampala (419), Wakiso (235), Mbarara (9), Kiryandongo (8), Jinja (8), Luweero (5), Mbale (4), Kiruhura (3), Soroti (2), Mukono (2), Masindi (2), Iganga (1), Wakiso (1), Rakai (1) Kyotera (4), Busia (14), Tororo (5)Amuru (5)

15 Truck drivers including seven from Kyotera, four from Tororo, two from Amuru and one from each of Busia and Kampala also tested positive according to the health ministry.

Findings from the ministry now reveal that the test positivity rate has hit 12.3% in the country with 69 active cases still admitted at different health centres.

As of today, 98,287 individuals have since recovered from the virus while 3,280 have succumbed to it after the ministry confirmed five new deaths on Monday.
