The Ministry of Education and Sports has released the 2023 academic calendar for Secondary, Technical, and Farm schools, Pre-Primary, Primary Schools, and Community Polytechnics.
According to Education Minister, Janet Museveni during a press briefing on Wednesday, first term for schools will start on 6th February 2023.
She said dates for senior one and five entrants for Technical or Farm Schools and Community Polytechnics will also be communicated in due course.
Museveni directed that teaching and learning should start promptly at the beginning of the school terms, and these should not be cut short without clearance from the Ministry.
She however, said the timetables can be subject to change if the country continues to face a crisis over the spreading Ebola Virus disease.
“All Headteachers of Boarding Schools, especially those in Kampala City, Mukono and Wakiso districts, should ensure that they stagger the starting dates for different classes over the week preceding the official opening and closing dates of the terms. This is intended to mitigate the inconveniences of traffic congestion,” she said.
“All school open days and other annual functions should be set by individual schools and institutions during second school term. School and institutions should sensitize parents and other stakeholders about the school Calendar,” added.
